Chicoya joined Ortale Kelley in 2024. Prior to joining Ortale Kelley, Chicoya made significant strides in criminal justice as an Assistant District Attorney General in Davidson County, where she focused on prosecuting domestic violence cases in Criminal Court Division VI.
Originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Chicoya earned her Bachelor’s of Arts from the University of Tennessee and her Juris Doctor from Belmont University’s College of Law. Currently serving as President of the Napier-Looby Bar Association and the Tennessee Alliance for Black Lawyers, Chicoya is deeply engaged in legal advocacy and community empowerment. She is also actively involved as a board member of Tennessee Voices for Victims, the Ark Family Center, and the Student Empowerment Partnership Program, demonstrating her commitment to fostering positive change.
Chicoya’s dedication and accomplishments have garnered her prestigious recognition, including being named Changemaker of the Year by Rise and earning spots on the Top 40 Under 40 lists by National Black Lawyers and the National Bar Association. Her outstanding contributions will be celebrated in July 2024 at the National Bar Association’s Annual Convention in Las Vegas, where she will be honored alongside other recipients of the Top 40 Under 40: Nation’s Best Advocates Award. In her free time, Chicoya enjoys reading, spending time with family and her dogs, and traveling.
