William H. “Trey” Neal, III

Mr. Neal participates in representing a wide variety of clients in both litigation and transactional matters to help maximize the results for each client.

Mr. Neal has engaged in the defense of an array of clients in many different practice areas, including professional malpractice, insurance defense, general tort liability, education law, and federal civil rights law. Mr. Neal has also participated in a variety of transactional matters, including real estate loans, commercial leases, and purchase sale agreements.

Mr. Neal joined the firm in 2016 after graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University Of Tennessee College Of Law with his J.D. While in law school, Mr. Neal competed on multiple traveling mock trial teams and served as the Public Relations Officer on the Moot Court Executive Board. Further, Mr. Neal served as the Membership and Marketing Editor for The Forum: A Tennessee Student Legal Journal and participated in the Appellate Litigation Clinic. During his third year of law school, Mr. Neal successfully argued a case before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, overturning an erroneous ruling from the Eastern District of Kentucky and earning his client a new habeas corpus hearing. Thomas v. Meko, 828 F.3d 435 (6th Cir. 2016).  Prior to attending law school, Mr. Neal attended the University of South Carolina where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in history in 2011 and his Master’s in teaching in 2013.

  • Drafted and analyzed documents for several commercial leases and large multi-party commercial loans.
  • Provided legal guidance in multiple insurance and general tort liability cases.
  • Supported in defending school districts and police agencies in federal lawsuits.
