Mediation & Alternative Dispute Resolution
As the year 2000 appeared, litigators across the United States saw a revolutionary change in the practice of law. With overcrowded dockets in the courtrooms, jury uncertainty, and the life of a lawsuit increasing year by year, OKH&C and the legal profession looked to forms of alternative dispute resolution to meet the needs and demands of their clients in a litigation prolific environment. Alternative dispute resolution and mediation are now commonly accepted mechanisms implemented to work collaboratively with opponents to exercise control over its resolution. Alternative dispute resolution and mediation are now often court ordered before a trial date can be selected. As such, all of our attorneys are well heeled in representing clients through the process of alternative dispute resolution and mediation. Three of our partners, Tom Corts, William Billips and Paul Buchanan have been certified as Rule 31 Mediators to better serve litigants in Tennessee in search of a way to resolve disputes short of litigation.
