Michael T. Schmitt

Mr. Schmitt joined the firm in 2007 after receiving his Juris Doctorate from the Washington & Lee School of Law. During law school, Mr. Schmitt served on the Environmental Law Digest and was active in several moot court competitions, including appellate advocacy, client counseling, mediation, negotiations and mock trial.  Mr. Schmitt completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing in 1999.

Mr. Schmitt practices civil litigation, with a primary focus in insurance defense and civil rights litigation. Mr. Schmitt has experience in both state and federal courts, in both jury and non jury matters. Mr. Schmitt also maintains an active appellate practice, and has presented arguments to the Tennessee Supreme Court and Court of Appeals and has briefed several arguments before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Mr. Schmitt is a member of the Nashville and Tennessee Bar Associations and donates his time to the Nashville Pro Bono Program.
