Julie Bhattacharya Peak
Ms. Peak has been a partner at Ortale Kelley Herbert & Crawford since 2007. Ms. Peak joined the Ortale Kelley Herbert & Crawford in 2001 after a one-year judicial clerkship with the Honorable William C. Koch, Jr. of the Tennessee Court of Appeals. Ms. Peak received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Memphis Law School in 2000, where she was the recipient of the Sam A. Myer Scholarship. Ms. Peak served on The University of Memphis Law Review and was selected as Managing Editor in from 1999-2000. A native of Memphis, Ms. Peak completed her undergraduate education as a Bonner Scholar at Rhodes College in Memphis, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies in 1997.
Ms. Peak, an AV-Rated Lawyer, practices civil litigation, with a primary focus in employment law, insurance fraud and coverage matters, personal torts, and professional liability. Ms. Peak also represents individuals in personal injury and employment litigation matters. Ms. Peak has extensive trial experience in state and federal courts, in both jury and non jury matters. Ms. Peak also maintains an active appellate practice, and has appeared before the Tennessee Court of Appeals and Supreme Court on numerous occasions.
In 2010, Ms. Peak was named as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers in the area of Insurance Coverage, a designation reserved for those practitioners under forty years of age who have been nominated and peer-reviewed for excellence in a particular field.
Ms. Peak is actively involved in the Nashville and Tennessee Bar Associations. She is a member of the Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women and serves on the Bench and Bar Committee of the Tennessee Bar. She is also an active member of the National Society of Professional Insurance Investigators, where she has made presentations on insurance fraud issues related to medical coding and billing. Selected from across the State, she was an inaugural member of the Tennessee Bar Association's Leadership in Law program in 2004. The following year Ms. Peak served as a Program Day Chair for the Leadership in Law program regarding "Issues in the Court." Ms. Peak is also involved in the Nashville community and has served on the Board of Directors for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. In 2004, she was a finalist for the Society's Woman of the Year honorarium. Ms. Peak has also participated as a member of the Nashville Young Leaders Council.
